Introduction

Qualitas Consortium is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity and to respect human rights in our operations and supplier relationships. This statement sets out the steps we have taken during the year to reduce the risk of modern slavery within our business and suppliers.

Our Business

Qualitas Consortium is a UK-based advisory and training services company operating within the UK healthcare sector. We work with NHS England/DHSC, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), General Practices, Primary Care Networks, GP Federations and NHS Trusts to design and deliver person-centred development programmes and quality improvement initiatives.

We are a SME (small to medium enterprise) operating in a low-risk sector. Our workforce is a core team of employed staff, mainly focused on supporting clients and operational delivery, supported by a talent pool of self-employed associates who deliver professional services on our behalf. All work is delivered within the UK. Our values – Partnership, Excellence and Trust – underpin our commitment to ethical conduct, transparency and respect for human rights.

Our Policies and Internal Controls

Qualitas Consortium has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to complying with all relevant legislation, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

We consider the risk of modern slavery within our operational delivery model to be very low. This is due to:

  • Robust and thoroughly checked recruitment and onboarding practices
  • Direct engagement of skilled professionals
  • UK-based operations
  • Clear contractual terms with employees and associates

Our Suppliers

While our business operates in a low-risk sector, we recognise that modern slavery can occur within supply chains. Our suppliers primarily provide professional services, technology, training and administrative support and are largely UK-based. To date, we have an updated and current comprehensive supplier database as follows:

  • Compiled and reviewed a register of our key suppliers
  • Undertaken desk-top based due diligence, including reviewing supplier websites and published policies
  • Identified whether suppliers publish a Modern Slavery Statement or equivalent ethical standards

Using this information, we have categorised suppliers as low, medium or higher risk based on:

  • The nature of the goods or services provided
  • The sector in which the supplier operates
  • Geographic location of operations
  • Workforce and labour models
  • The level of transparency demonstrated by the supplier

Managing and Mitigating Risk

Given our size and risk profile, the Board of Directors has confirmed our approach to managing modern slavery risk is proportionate. We do not conduct routine audits of suppliers. Instead, we:

  • Review supplier risk periodically
  • Review supplier policies for all new suppliers and during contract renewals
  • Remain alert to potential indicators of modern slavery
  • Commit to taking appropriate action if concerns are identified

Training and Awareness

Responsibility for understanding and managing modern slavery risk sits with senior leadership. Awareness of modern slavery risks and indicators is embedded into our corporate governance and decision-making processes in a proportionate manner. Awareness training for employees during induction is mandatory, as is periodic refresher training during term of employment so they remain alert to indicators of modern slavery and understanding their role in preventing it.

Review and Continuous Improvement

Qualitas Consortium is not legally required to publish a Modern Slavery Statement; we choose to do so voluntarily and review it annually as part of our commitment to ethical practice and transparency.

This statement is reviewed and updated with Board approval to reflect our activities, evolving best practice and changes to relevant legislation or guidance. We recognise that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process and are committed to continuous improvement via our annual reviews.
