Social Value at Qualitas

We create social value by helping people and communities thrive.

Our commitment is simple: when we strengthen primary care, we strengthen the people and places behind it.

Enabling Meaningful Progression

We open accessible pathways into higher‑skilled roles, for all colleagues. Our funded learning and tailored coaching help people grow with confidence.

We champion merit‑based progression, offering career development based on ability, suitability and potential – ensuring fairness and transparency for everyone.

We also encourage staff‑led innovation, supporting colleagues to bring forward ideas and business cases that shape their own development journeys.

Building Inclusive, Supportive Workplaces

Our culture of Excellence, Partnership and Trust ensures everyone feels respected, heard and able to grow.

Inclusion at Qualitas means people feel safe being themselves; diversity means we actively value different perspectives for the fresh ideas and better outcomes they bring.

We offer flexible working, Real Living Wage pay, strong wellbeing support and regular development‑focused conversations.

Our matrix structure provides broad exposure across programmes, enabling colleagues to build confidence and progress more equitably, regardless of background or geography.

Investing in Skills that benefit Communities

Every colleague has access to structured development, mentoring and capability‑building.
Our collaborations with sector partners help colleagues build transferable skills while contributing to stronger, more resilient local health systems.

Accredited learning, such as apprenticeships, not only strengthens internal capability but also generates wider community value, for example through coaching support for women returning to work.

Supporting Local Economies & SMEs

We work with local small and medium‑sized enterprises wherever practical, supporting community‑based supply chains and contributing to the NHS Social Value Model’s focus on local opportunity creation.

By partnering with SMEs whose values align with ours, we help strengthen local economies and ensure our procurement decisions generate broader social value.

Environmental Responsibility & Low-Carbon Travel

We recognise our responsibility to minimise our environmental impact.

Our Sustainable Travel Policy commits us to reducing greenhouse‑gas emissions, prioritising low‑carbon transport and monitoring our annual travel‑related footprint.

In 2026, we completed the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment for the third consecutive year, achieving Level 2 (“Comprehensive net zero targets and reporting for carbon emissions”). Evergreen reporting helps us track our alignment with NHS sustainability priorities and focus improvement.

Encouraging Volunteering & Community Participation

Through flexible working and supportive line‑management, we enable colleagues to participate in volunteering, community activity and professional contribution – strengthening civic and social value beyond our core work.

What’s Next?

From 2026, we will deepen our social value impact by working closely with commissioners and partners to strengthen local workforce capability. We will focus on creating sustainable, place‑based talent pipelines, widening access to improvement roles for people from diverse backgrounds and expanding early‑career opportunities such as secondments and supported entry routes. As a virtual employer, we will continue to enable people to build meaningful careers within their communities. Our Board‑level oversight will ensure these commitments remain transparent, ambitious and continuously improving.

Our Commitment

Through inclusive recruitment, strong EDI principles, environmentally responsible practices, accessible development, support for local SMEs and robust governance, we deliver measurable, meaningful social value for colleagues, communities and the wider health and care system. These commitments reflect our ambition to go beyond contractual requirements and deliver social value that grows year on year.
