Qualitas at NHS Confed Expo 2024 in Manchester

Attending the NHS Confed Expo 2024 in Manchester on June 12-13 was a fantastic experience for the Qualitas team. The event, which attracted over 5,400 delegates, provided an excellent opportunity to network with healthcare professionals, thought leaders, and industry experts from across the UK.

Throughout the two days, attendees had the chance to hear from inspirational leaders across the health and care sector and attend over 150 engaging sessions on key issues and important developments.

Summary of the Event

With the general election on the horizon, many attendees were in a holding pattern, keen to see how the political landscape might shape the NHS’s future.

Additionally, the absence of ICB members, who were advised not to attend the expo ahead of the general election, was a noticeable factor. Despite this, the atmosphere remained charged with a shared commitment to improving patient care and healthcare delivery.

What Qualitas Shared at Confed

At the Qualitas booth, we proudly showcased our pioneering approach to organisational development through our new Organisational Development Triangle. This innovative model places patients at the centre, emphasising choice, control, and convenience. The triangle’s corners represent governance and leadership, operational development, and workforce development, all revolving around enhancing patient care.

We also presented compelling data and metrics demonstrating the success of our programs within these key areas. Our initiatives have led to £8.5 million in cost savings, saved 600,000 hours of staff time, and achieved a remarkable 1,500% return on investment from organizational development efforts. These impressive results highlight the tangible benefits of our approach for both practices and patients.

Additionally, we reaffirmed our commitment to supporting general practice by continuing as an accredited delivery partner for the NHS’s General Practice Improvement Programme (GPIP), now retitled as Practice Level Support (PLS). This ongoing partnership underscores our dedication to driving improvements and innovation in primary care.

Key Speakers

One of the highlights was the keynote speech from Amanda Pritchard, NHS Chief Executive, who set a powerful tone for the future of healthcare. Her insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the NHS were both sobering and inspiring.

At the “Clinical Leadership for Community Empowerment” conference, we were treated to an engaging panel featuring Andy Knox, Owen Williams, and Bola Owalabi. They discussed strategies for becoming resident-driven, clinically led, and management-enabled, sparking a lot of ideas on how we can all contribute to a more integrated healthcare system.

Other Highlights

In addition to the main sessions, there were numerous breakout sessions and workshops that offered deeper dives into specific topics. From innovative technologies to new approaches in patient care, there was something for everyone. The networking opportunities were invaluable, and we made many connections that we hope will lead to future collaborations.

Overall, the two days of NHS Confed Expo was an insightful experience. With the upcoming general election, there was a notable sense of anticipation among attendees. Despite this, it was a pleasure to be part of such an event and to witness firsthand the passion and dedication of everyone involved in shaping the future of healthcare in the UK.

We look forward to implementing some of the insights and strategies discussed at the Expo and continuing our mission to improve healthcare delivery through innovative solutions and dedicated service.
